Have you got a great family movie script or even good idea for a family movie sitting in your files/on your hard drive?

Are you interested in developing it into a feature shot in the UK with a multi-million US dollar budget?

If you haven't, can you think of an idea quickly?

This is a great opportunity for the writers of the North as we have been contacted by a producer who is looking for a great family movie script.

Time is of the essence on this project as the aim is to have a final draft by the end of January 2005, so if you’ve got an idea, please send it as soon as you can.

A family movie is a broad genre to aim at, so don't worry if you don't have the next "Stuart Little" waiting in the wings (though we’re not ruling out a movie similar to “Stuart Little”).

Family movies include:

The Incredibles
Indiana Jones movies
Star Wars movies
It's a Wonderful Life
Ghostbusters
Grease
Jurassic Park
Lord of the Rings
The Wizard of Oz

Obviously budgets in this case won't stretch to a blockbuster but hopefully you can see how broadly this can be interpreted

What won't be considered are:
Horror movies
Romantic Comedies (they are usually date movies rather than family)
Social drama
Anything that contains excessive swearing, violence or sex.

What they are looking for is upbeat, life affirming, wholesome and feel good for the whole family. The producer is American, but they are looking for something set in the UK and hopefully shot in the North West of England.

If you've got it, send it to us and we'll talk to our producer to see which they like.

We can't say much about who our contact is, but they are known and reputable and we will do our utmost to ensure that any writers’ work is dealt with fairly, honestly and with integrity.

Just send a 1-page pitch document of your idea(s) to info@northernscreenwriters.co.uk and we'll let you know what the outcome is.

Keep writing!!
